What it is
The Wonderskin Wonder Blading All Day Lip Stain Peel Off Masque is a two-step lip color system that works by bonding pigment directly to the lip surface. You apply a thick, opaque masque, wait for it to dry down, then peel the film away to reveal a long-wearing stain underneath. The result is transfer-proof, water-resistant color that behaves more like a dye than a traditional lipstick or gloss.
Who it's for
This product is a strong fit for anyone who wants all-day lip color without constant reapplication — particularly people who wear masks, drink frequently throughout the day, or find traditional lipstick migrates into fine lines. It suits all skin types since it sits on the lip surface rather than relying on moisturizing emollients to stay in place.
Skip it if your lips are very dry, chapped, or peeling. Peel-off stains grip to dry texture unevenly, which can result in patchy color and, if lips are cracked, potential irritation. People who prefer a glossy or moisturizing finish will also want to look elsewhere — the stain reads matte once the masque is removed.
How to use it
Start with clean, exfoliated lips — any flakiness will interfere with even pigment transfer. Apply the masque in a thick, even layer using the included applicator, staying just inside the lip line to avoid staining surrounding skin. Allow it to dry completely, which typically takes five to ten minutes depending on how thickly you applied it. The film will shift from glossy to a matte, slightly tacky texture when it is ready. Peel the film off in one piece starting from the corners and working inward.
Once the stain is revealed, apply a clear gloss or balm over it if you want added moisture or shine — the stain itself will not budge. Use it as the final lip step in your routine, after skincare and before setting spray if you use one. One application is generally sufficient for the day; reapplication is not typically needed but is possible if color fades after eating.
Key ingredients
Wonderskin has not publicly disclosed a detailed ingredient breakdown in the data available for this listing. As a category, peel-off lip stains rely on film-forming polymers — often similar to those used in peel-off face masks — that create the removable layer while leaving pigment molecules behind on the lip surface. The long-wear performance depends on the quality and concentration of those film formers as well as the pigment load. If you have known sensitivities to acrylates or film-forming agents, it is worth reviewing the full ingredient list on the manufacturer's site before purchasing.
Pros & cons
- Genuinely transfer-proof once set — does not budge on cups, masks, or skin contact
- Wide shade range across nudes, berries, reds, and corals
- Novel application experience that many users find satisfying and precise
- Long-wear payoff that holds up through most of the day without touch-ups
- Unforgiving on dry or uneven lips — patchiness is a common complaint
- Application takes patience; rushing the dry-down leads to poor peel and uneven stain
- Removal is permanent for the day — stains are difficult to lift once set, which can be frustrating if you want to change your look
- Color can oxidize slightly as it sets, so swatching in-store or checking user photos in your skin tone is recommended
How it compares
If you want versatile, buildable color that works across lips, cheeks, and eyes without any waiting or technique, the e.l.f. Monochromatic Multi Stick in Sparkling Rose is a low-commitment alternative. It delivers a sheer, blendable wash of color in seconds — ideal for quick application — though it won't approach the staying power of a stain. The tradeoff is convenience versus longevity: the Wonder Blading masque requires more time and prep but outperforms most traditional formulas once it is locked in.
The verdict
With a 3.8 out of 5 rating across more than 40,000 reviews, the Wonderskin Wonder Blading Lip Stain Masque has earned a genuinely enthusiastic following, though the lower-than-perfect score reflects a real learning curve. When applied correctly to smooth, well-hydrated lips, the payoff is impressive — few lip products match its transfer resistance. But it is not a grab-and-go formula, and it will frustrate anyone who skips the prep steps or rushes the dry-down. Treat it as a technique product rather than a convenience product, and it delivers on its promises.
What shoppers say
Shoppers consistently praise this peel-off stain for delivering a natural, lightweight tint that holds up through meals and hours of wear without the transfer issues of conventional lipstick. Many report it works especially well for those who dislike the heavy feel of traditional lip products but still want lasting color definition.
The main caveats center on shade matching—several buyers found the applied stain looked different than expected on their skin tone. A handful of reviewers also note there's a learning curve with the masque application technique, and those with very dry lips may want to prep carefully beforehand.
Seriously, this lip stain has saved me so much money, time, and effort. I used to wear lip liner every day because I felt like my lips were on the thinner side (especially when chapped), but I always hated how intense and overly precise lip liners looked. It felt like there was never a true in-between shade. It was always either brown or red. I eventually gave up on lip liner because touching it up constantly was annoying, and I was always losing my lip products. Then my mom showed me this lip stain, and I’ve never looked back. At first, I was like “eh, whatever” because there are so many gimmicky, all-the-same lip stains out right now. But she wanted me to try it since she has darker lips and was curious how it would show up on mine. So I tried it. AND SOMETIMES (perhaps more than sometimes) moms really know what they’re talking about. I have NEVER EVER gone back. I usually hate lip stains. They’re always some red, or berry TINT and I just wanted something natural with a hint of flush. Plus, most stains wear off in like an hour. But this one? I’ve repurchased it over and over again. For context, I love going out clubbing. I can apply this around 10 PM before heading out, and when I get home, it’s still on my lips. I usually leave it on my full lips for a minute, then “line” my lips with it like a lip liner for about five minutes. Sometimes I repeat that for more coverage. My go-to is the shade XOXO, but I’ve also tried Beautiful, Adore and Neon Rose. Those were super pigmented. XOXO is my favorite since it feels like my natural lip shade with a half a shade darker and more neutral in a sense to where it works like a contour. I feel like the shade “beautiful” was almost like XOXO but with a bit more “flushness” to it! A natural tone for sure but MORE coverage. Adore was similar in the way of a natural tone but a pink more on the pinkish side! && Neon Rose was a NEON pink and lasted so long I literally woke up the next morning and it was still there. I remember the first time I applied “Neon Rose” and I did it same way I did with XOXO, and the color lasted from the moment I finished my makeup (around 4am) to the moment before I went to bed to do my nighttime routine (6pm.) since then I know now if I want to use neon rose it needs to be like 5 seconds applied seriously. This product lets me go out without carrying a full makeup bag. No touch-ups, no worries about losing lip products at the club. Just throw it on before I leave, throw one lipgloss in my tiny purse and go. I took forever to write this review because every time I use it, I get so excited watching the magic happen that I forget to take a picture. Also, people complain about the peeling part, but who cares? I always just wipe it off. It’s not a big deal when the results are this good. You get so much bang for your buck, especially with bold shades. Yes, it can feel a little dry eventually, but even then it stays opaque and visible. And coming from someone who hates spending more than $5 on makeup or skincare, this is one of the very few exceptions I’ll make. It’s worth every penny. (Top picture is before applying the lip stain, and bottom picture is after applying and leaving the lip stain on for about 1 minute) I will never use another lip product again.
Read on Amazon ↗As I agree get older, I feel like my lips are losing some color and I haaaaate it. I don't want to do lip blushing and I'm not a lipstick person. I hate my lips feeling dry and have to have some sort of balm or something. Saw Wonder skin lip stain and knew I had to try it. I'll make this quick. Does it work? For me, yeah. I found if you don't exfoliate your lips well prior to using that it WILL adhere even darker to every crack or piece of skin or imperfection. As long as you scrub your lips beforehand, it'll be mostly even. I also found you need to apply it thick - you can control how much you put on but it's easy to get it clumpy. So if you swipe it on thick and then it's a little thinner on in a place so you go to add more to make it even....it'll kind of peel and be weird. You have to make sure everything is applied evenly and thick for it to last...which leads to my biggest gripe. It runs out QUICK. If you used this regularly, it's gone fast. I used mine maybe three times a week and it lasted less than a month. So while I LOVE that it actually stains your lips so you don't need to reapply a lip color/liner...you will go through it very fast. And at the price point, that is rough for me because I'm pretty frugal and don't like to spend a lot of money. Doesn't seem to make my lips sticky or dry. Fades a little blotchy. LOVE the color Whimsical -- it looked prefect on my skin. Not super obvious but still enough color to make me look polished. I really enjoy this stuff but it can be a pain to apply evenly and runs out very quickly.
Read on Amazon ↗I have very mixed feelings about this product. Previously the only lip tints I’ve tried are the glossy ones from k beauty brands and this was my first time trying a peel off style lip stain. I really wanted to find one that actually stains/lasts and I’ve seen this product all over TikTok. My skin tone is fair neutral/cool and I struggle with some pink shades looking to warm or orangey on me. I purchased the shade beautiful after doing some research and it’s a really pretty extremely natural looking/flushed shade. It does look a little warmer on my skin tone then it does in the product photos but it isn’t to warm or orangey and it’s a really pretty natural pink shade. The first thing I noticed was the scent, it doesn’t smell bad at all but has a surprisingly herbal/fresh type of scent? It also wasn’t as drying as I expected it to be and feels similar to applying a matte liquid lipstick. I did two layers of product the first time and left it on for a minute. I wiped it off with a damp cotton round and it came off very easily. The first round I noticed it definitely gave me a light flush or sheer tint of color but I wanted it a little more pigmented so I applied it a second time. After the second round it was definitely more pigmented but still had that sheer/natural finish look. I had tried it right before showering and after the shower and washing my face it held up really well and I didn’t notice any fading or smudging. However after eating lunch I did notice it had faded quite significantly, there was still a very very sheer tint of color left but it did feel like it had faded a lot unfortunately. (To be fair I did have pizza for lunch so maybe it being a more oily/greasy food caused it to break down more? It may hold up better against other foods.) application was pretty easy and after removing the blue part it feels very lightweight and like nothing on your lips. I do which it had a slightly better applicator though or more of a tapered/doe style instead of the small flat rectangle shape. For the price I was hoping for it to hold up better after meals and for it to last longer. I do want to try one of the colors in the more pigmented line (this shade was listed under their sheer tints) and see if those last or work a little better. I think overall it’s a good lip stain, it holds up decently and feels nice, it has a pleasant scent and the colors are pretty and I like how much of a shade variety they have. I think it is a little overpriced for what you get though. I would recommend buying them on sale.
Read on Amazon ↗I bought several, and am adding to this review as I take more pictures of my face. (I really hope all the photos upload in the correct order...) 1. Natural--no lip stains, makeup, lip balm, etc. 2. This one is Whimsical, and the color tone didn't work for me. It's really pretty, objectively I love the color, but it brings out all the underlying reds in my face and required me to wear a lot more makeup, and since a big draw of lip stains for me is that I can wear *less* makeup, I ended up returning this shade. However, it had really good, even coverage (except for the spot where you can see I bit my lip and there was extra pigment there), I love that I can apply chapstick over it, and lasted a very long time--when I applied it in the morning there was still a tint of it on my lips the next morning. It's unfortunate that it had to be on for ~5 hours before it was a shade that worked for my face, but if it works for your skin tone then go for it! 3. & 4. Crush. I LOVE this one. The coral is exactly what I wanted. The first is Crush freshly applied, the second is after 8 hours of wear and running a 5k. This one is definitely going to be a regular reorder for me! 5. is XOXO, and I really like this one, it is very natural look. It doesn't last as long as Whimsical or Crush for me, maybe because it is a lighter, more natural stain, it seems to wear off around mid-day if I put it on in the morning and I have to re-apply. But otherwise it's great. 6. Lastly, Divine. This one doesn't go on blue/purple, it goes on blood red. And I mean, vampire-went-on-a-binge blood red. When you wipe it off it leaves behind a nice berry color (half the photo is the blood red, the other half is what's left behind when I wiped it off). This one has the shortest duration of all of them, if I put it on in the morning I noticeably have to reapply it in the afternoon--really can't get away with just letting this one fade. It's pretty, but I won't be re purchasing this particular shade.

Wonderskin Wonder Blading All Day Lip Stain Peel Off Masque: frequently asked questions
What is the Wonderskin Wonder Blading Lip Stain Peel Off Masque?
It's a two-step peel-off lip treatment that works like a masque: you apply the tinted formula to your lips, let it set, then peel it away to reveal a long-lasting color stain underneath. Unlike traditional lipsticks, the pigment bonds directly to the lip skin, leaving a transfer-proof, budge-resistant tint rather than a coating of product.
Does Wonderskin lip stain actually work?
For most users, yes — the stain delivers real, noticeable color that holds up through eating and drinking far better than standard lip color. Results do vary depending on your lip texture and skin tone; lips that are very dry or flaky may see uneven pickup, so exfoliating beforehand helps. The payoff is sheer-to-medium rather than opaque, so don't expect full-coverage lipstick intensity.
How do you apply the Wonderskin lip masque?
Apply an even layer of the masque over your lips, going slightly beyond the lip line for precision. Let it dry completely — the formula shifts from translucent to a peelable film as it sets. Once dry, peel the masque off in one piece starting from the corners. Avoid speaking or pressing your lips together while it's setting, as that can break the film before it's ready.
How long do you leave the Wonderskin lip masque on?
The brand recommends waiting about 5–10 minutes, or until the masque feels completely dry and no longer tacky to the touch. Peeling too early — before the film is fully set — can remove uneven patches of stain and reduce color payoff. Cooler environments may slow drying slightly, so give it a bit more time if needed.
Do you peel or wipe off Wonderskin lip stain?
You peel it off. Once the masque has dried into a film, you lift an edge at the corner of your mouth and peel it away cleanly — similar to a face peel mask. There's no wiping or rinsing involved. The stain is left behind on your lips after the film is removed.
How long does the Wonderskin lip stain last?
The brand markets it as all-day wear, and many users find it holds 6–8 hours of base color. The stain naturally fades from the center of the lips outward, which can actually look flattering as a gradient effect. Heavy meals or oily foods will accelerate fading, and the stain is not fully waterproof, so some lightening in humid conditions is normal.
Who is the Wonderskin lip stain best suited for?
It's ideal for anyone who wants low-maintenance lip color that survives coffee, meals, and mask-wearing without constant touch-ups. It works best on well-hydrated, smooth lips — if dryness or flaking is a concern, exfoliate and moisturize the night before. Those who prefer bold, opaque coverage may find the stain effect too sheer, but it's a great pick for a natural, effortless look.
