What it is

The HEIMISH All Clean Balm is a solid-to-oil first-step cleanser that melts on contact with skin, dissolving makeup, sunscreen, and daily buildup without stripping the moisture barrier. It belongs to the first step of a Korean double-cleanse routine, where an oil-phase cleanser does the heavy lifting before a water-based cleanser finishes the job. This two-pack gives you 240ml total — enough to make a meaningful dent in a daily cleansing habit before you need to restock.

Who it's for

This balm suits a wide range of skin types, but it earns its place particularly with dry, dehydrated, and sensitive skin. The balm texture is richer than a standard cleansing oil, so it cushions the cleansing step rather than pulling at skin. People who wear full-coverage foundation, long-wear mascara, or SPF50+ sunscreen will appreciate how efficiently it breaks down that kind of buildup.

Those with very oily or acne-prone skin should approach with some caution — a richer balm formula is not automatically pore-clogging, but anyone prone to congestion on the nose and chin may want to test a small area first and ensure they follow with a thorough water-based cleanse. If your skin leans extremely oily year-round, a lightweight cleansing oil may feel more comfortable as a first step.

How to use it

Use it on dry skin before wetting your face. Scoop a small amount (roughly a pea- to almond-sized portion) with the spatula or clean fingertips, warm it between your palms until it liquefies, then massage gently across your face for 30–60 seconds. Pay attention to the eye area and hairline, where sunscreen and makeup tend to cling. Add a splash of warm water to emulsify — the balm will turn milky — then rinse thoroughly. Follow immediately with a gentle water-based cleanser to remove any remaining residue. Use once daily, typically in the evening. There is no need to double-cleanse in the morning if you are not wearing SPF or makeup.

Key ingredients

Because the formulation specifics are not disclosed in the product data available to us, the section below is grounded in what is broadly known about cleansing balm chemistry and this product's widely documented texture profile.

Shea butter forms the solid base of the HEIMISH All Clean Balm, giving it its characteristic white, waxy consistency at room temperature. Shea butter is an established emollient — it replenishes lipids in the skin barrier and helps counteract the tight, dry feeling that harsher cleansers can leave behind. This is directly relevant to the dryness and sensitivity concerns this product is designed to address. The balm's lipid-rich base also means it can suspend oil-soluble pigments, silicones, and UV filters efficiently, which is what makes it effective at removing long-wear cosmetics and mineral sunscreens.

Pros & cons

  • Gentle on the moisture barrier — rich, emollient texture cleanses without stripping
  • Efficient makeup and SPF removal — emulsifies cleanly with water, reducing the need to scrub
  • Well-reviewed at scale — 4.6 out of 5 across nearly 5,900 shopper ratings signals consistent real-world performance
  • Two-pack value — useful for households where two people share a routine, or for anyone who uses this product daily and wants a backup on hand
  • Accessible K-beauty entry point — straightforward format with no actives to conflict with the rest of your routine
  • Jar packaging — fingers or a spatula go into the product each use, which introduces hygiene considerations; always use clean hands or the included spatula
  • Richer formula may not suit very oily skin — those prone to congestion should double-cleanse carefully and monitor their pores
  • No exfoliating or treatment actives — this is a dedicated cleanser, not a multi-tasker; it will not address hyperpigmentation, texture, or breakouts on its own
  • Requires a follow-up cleanser — best results depend on double cleansing; using it as a standalone rinse may leave an oily film

How it compares

The HEIMISH All Clean Balm is a first-step cleanser — it clears the canvas rather than treating the skin. If dryness and dehydration persist after cleansing, layering in a dedicated hydrating step makes sense. COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence works well as a follow-up treatment in the same routine, delivering lightweight hydration and barrier support after cleansing is complete. For anyone dealing with both sensitivity and occasional breakouts, COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch can be applied post-cleanse on active spots without interfering with the balm step.

The verdict

The HEIMISH All Clean Balm is a reliable, well-tested first-step cleanser that performs exactly as described: it removes makeup and sunscreen efficiently, handles sensitive skin thoughtfully, and does not overcomplicate a routine. It is not a treatment product, and it works best as part of a proper double cleanse rather than as a standalone. For dry and sensitive skin types looking for an affordable, proven K-beauty cleanser, it is a sensible choice. Oilier skin types should weigh whether a lighter cleansing oil might suit them better year-round.

What shoppers say

★ 4.6average from 5.9k ratings on Amazon

Shoppers consistently praise this balm for dissolving waterproof mascara and eyeliner without tugging or irritating the eyes, and note that a small amount goes surprisingly far. Many appreciate the relatively short, clean ingredient list and the skin-soft finish it leaves behind—repeat purchases are common.

The main caveat is the fragrance: a handful of buyers find the scent off-putting even though it isn't listed as added fragrance. A few note it handles light-to-moderate makeup well but haven't tested it against full-coverage foundation, so heavy makeup wearers may want to manage expectations.

Works great! But that SCENT...

This is the best cleansing balm I've ever tried. Hands down. The absolute tiniest amount spread effortlessly over the skin, just straight up melting my most stubborn waterproof mascara with zero scrubbing. It also left my skin feeling so soft and hydrated. Absolutely fantastic product. But there was just one little fly in the ointment (ha ha). The scent is not my favorite and it's just SO STRONG. It was pretty overwhelming at first, especially the eucalyptus, which is of course the part I actually dislike. And it lingered for a while after too, maybe half an hour, definitely longer than I would've liked. I'm no anti-scent fanatic either, I really love a good scented soap or cleanser. I almost didn't knock off the one star, but I'd be lying if I didn't say the smell really hurt what would've otherwise been a sublime experience. Don't get me wrong though, I'm absolutely gonna be repurchasing this in the future. Scent or no, until I find something else that works this well I'm sticking with it. But next time I'm getting the mandarin scented version, even if it takes longer to ship.

Gentle, clean & effective - great value!

Love, love, love this balm. I've tried several other balms that were fine, but this is my favorite. It's gentle and has clean ingredients, removes waterproof makeup & sunscreen without having to rub or tug, doesn't cloud or irritate the eyes, and a little goes a very long way - my daughter & I use it daily and a jar lasts us about two months - so it's worth every penny. I'm sensitive to scents and this one is *extremely* light and rinses completely away. I have dry/sensitive skin, my daughter has combo skin, and our faces feel clean but not stripped after using this. It's also a great first step if you double cleanse. Just an excellent product, highly recommend.

Repeat buyer of an effective, clean beauty balm

I love this cleansing balm because it checks all the boxes for me. I like the cleaner ingredients, the texture, the cleansing ability without feeling too greasy, and the gentle scent that isn’t listed as fragrance. I’m on my second jar, and I haven’t found a reason to switch and I’m à label reader and a price conscious consumer.

Fabulous product

I love this product so much. Can’t recommend it enough. My skin is old and dry and this takes everything off except my clothes 🤣. A little goes a long ways. Even waterproof mascara and liner. I tried wiping it on a friend who is visiting from out of town, but it didn’t work. They’re still here, “visiting”…

Glad I found this cleanser

I like simple face cleansing routines and this balm does it. It’s easy to apply, just dip your fingers in the pot ( not too much) and rub into your skin and even over your eyes. No stinging and it is easily removed with water. ( Removes all my makeup but I don’t use heavy foundation. ) My skin feels clean but not taut after use. I highly recommend.
