What it is

The MANYO MANYO Pure Cleansing Oil is a K-beauty first-cleanse designed to dissolve sunscreen, long-wear makeup, and excess sebum before a water-based cleanser follows. At 200ml it offers a generous supply, and it emulsifies on contact with water so it rinses away without leaving a greasy film on the skin. With a 4.6-star average across more than 6,600 reviews, it has earned a strong track record among dedicated double-cleansers.

Who it's for

Cleansing oils suit a wider range of skin types than their name suggests. People with dry or dehydrated skin often find them gentler than foaming cleansers because the oil base does not strip the moisture barrier. Those dealing with oily skin or congested pores also benefit: the oil-on-oil mechanism lifts excess sebum that water-based products can leave behind, and a thorough first cleanse reduces the pore-clogging residue that contributes to breakouts.

The one group that should proceed with caution is anyone with an active sensitivity to plant oils or a known fragrance allergy — check the full ingredient list before committing. People who already use a rich overnight treatment and find any extra occlusion tips them into congestion may also prefer a micellar or balm-style first cleanser instead.

How to use it

Apply a small amount — roughly a 50-cent-coin measure — to dry hands and dry skin. Massaging it onto a wet face immediately dilutes the formula before it has a chance to work, so keep both surfaces dry at this step. Work the oil across the face in gentle circular motions for 30 to 60 seconds, paying extra attention to the T-zone, hairline, and areas where foundation or SPF tends to sit heavily.

Add a few drops of water to your fingertips and continue massaging: the formula will turn milky as the emulsifiers activate. Rinse thoroughly, then follow immediately with a water-based cleanser to remove any remaining traces. This two-step sequence — known as double cleansing — is the foundation of most K-beauty routines and is recommended every evening. A morning oil cleanse is unnecessary for most skin types; plain water or a gentle rinse is sufficient at night.

Key ingredients

Because MANYO has not published a detailed active-ingredient breakdown for this specific formula, the honest answer is that the performance here rests on well-chosen plant oils and emulsifiers rather than a single headline active. Quality cleansing oils typically rely on lightweight, non-comedogenic carrier oils — such as those derived from sunflower, jojoba, or similar seeds — that have a strong affinity for the lipid-based compounds in sebum, SPF filters, and pigmented cosmetics. The emulsifier system is equally critical: it determines whether a cleansing oil rinses cleanly or leaves a residue, and the large volume of positive reviews suggests this one disperses well. If specific oils are a concern for your skin, reviewing the full INCI list on the packaging before purchasing is recommended.

Pros & cons

  • Emulsifies cleanly — turns milky with water and rinses without a heavy residue
  • Broad appeal — suits dry, oily, and acne-prone skin as a first-cleanse step
  • Generous 200ml size — lasts several months with daily evening use
  • Well-reviewed at scale — 4.6 stars from over 6,600 purchasers is a reliable signal of consistent performance
  • Supports the skin barrier — oil-based cleansing is inherently less stripping than sulfate-heavy foams
  • Ingredient transparency is limited — the brand does not prominently feature the full oil blend, which matters for those managing specific sensitivities
  • Requires a follow-up cleanser — it is a first step, not a standalone wash, which adds a minute to your routine
  • Not ideal for fragrance-sensitive skin without verifying the INCI list first

How it compares

This cleansing oil occupies the first step of a routine; the products you layer afterward determine the overall result. If you are building a K-beauty routine around barrier repair, pairing the MANYO cleanse with a hydrating serum like the COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence creates a sensible sequence — thorough removal first, then targeted hydration on clean skin. For acne-prone routines, keeping the COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch on hand addresses active blemishes after your cleanse without requiring a separate medicated wash. Neither of those is a direct substitute for an oil cleanser; they simply reflect how a cleansing oil fits as the foundation of a layered routine rather than as a standalone treatment.

The verdict

The MANYO Pure Cleansing Oil is a straightforward, well-executed first cleanser that delivers on the core promise of double cleansing: it removes sunscreen and makeup efficiently, emulsifies without a greasy finish, and does not appear to aggravate oily or acne-prone skin based on the breadth of positive feedback. It is not a treatment product and contains no disclosed actives that address breakouts or dehydration directly — those concerns are better managed with the steps that follow. What it does, it does reliably, and for anyone committed to a consistent cleansing routine, that reliability is worth more than a longer ingredient claim list.

What shoppers say

★ 4.6average from 6.6k ratings on Amazon

Shoppers with sensitive, acne-prone, dry, and oily skin alike report it dissolves waterproof mascara, eyeliner, and sunscreen thoroughly without stinging eyes or triggering breakouts. Many note the satisfying milky emulsification on contact with water, and several long-term users say it visibly reduced congestion around the nose over time. A light citrus scent gets consistent mentions as a plus.

The main caveat: the formula runs thicker than average, so it requires more massaging to fully emulsify—those who prefer a thinner, faster-rinsing oil may find it fussier. Shoppers with very oily skin should patch-test, as a richer texture can feel heavy for some complexions.

Favorite Oil Cleanser

This is my favorite oil cleanser. I lived Korea for several years and did a TON of research about skincare. After some trial and error I found this bad boy and it's been a part of my life for almost 5 years (I'm currently 31). When I wear makeup I typically take it off at night, then use this cleaner with my morning routine. Sometimes at the end of the day I'm too tired and end up sleeping in my makeup (I know it's terrible). But when I wash with this in the morning it always removes any mascara still clinging to my eyelashes for dear life. The scent is quite mild. It has notes of citrus, but it's not overpowering. As a redhead, how to handle sensitive skin was one of my first life lessons. This oil is incredibly gentle and it's easy to apply to my dry skin. To use, make sure you rub it into your face for about a minute before emulsifying with water for another minute. Just as important as washing is rinsing. I always splash at least 20 handfuls of water onto my face after using this to be sure everything is properly rinsed off. It's really hard to choose skincare based on someone else's recommendation. If you're considering trying this, you should change only one part of your skincare routine at a time and give it a month before you decide if it's working or not. It takes to see noticeable change in skin!

Good Cleanser, Light Citrus Scent. Repurchasing.

After finishing almost the entire bottle, my mom and I both love this cleansing oil (I have dry skin, and she has oily, sensitive, allergy-prone skin). It doesn’t sting our eyes at all or irritate our skin. It removes sunscreen and makeup really well, emulsifies easily, and rinses off clean without leaving a heavy residue. It’s not the strongest oil cleanser I’ve used, but it’s also less drying than others. That said, since I double cleanse, I wouldn’t say it leaves my skin feeling moisturized afterward. The pump works fine, but I don’t recommend applying it directly onto the face (as you can see in the video). It’s much easier to dispense it into your hands first and then apply. The scent is noticeable. It has a citrus/herbal smell from the essential oils (I personally notice the grape seed oil the most), but we like it. Just keep that in mind if you’re sensitive to fragrance. Since two people are using it, we go through it fairly quickly, so we would like a bigger bottle. We will definitely repurchase.

Good for sensitive skin

I have sensitive skin that easily breaks out and have had the most success with cleansing oils vs. traditional cleansers. I tried this one as it's rated highly at Olive Young in Korea. This oil is definitely thicker than most and takes a little bit more work to emulsify, but not one breakout since starting! The smell is a relatively light, herby, medicinal, vitamin C kind of smell that isn't unpleasant and does not stay on your skin after rinsing. I now appreciate the thicker formula as it doesn't feel like it strips my skin and has helped minimize my sebaceous filaments on my nose. I do tend to get hard solid white clogged pores on my chin which I have noticed improved since starting this cleanser and have never had much improvement on those before until now!

A Great Cleansing Oil

I love Manyo skincare products. Last year I ordered a travel skincare kit of their products- it contained this cleansing oil, a cleansing cream, a toner, a serum, and moisturizer. Wow! my skin glowed. I've always used quality skincare products, but was unfamiliar with this line until I used products in their travel skincare kit. I have sensitive, dry skin. There's zero issues with this product, and all their products, because they formulated with natural ingredients, including plant extracts to nourish skin. It's easy to use, and removes makeup and daily grim well- have your skin a little damp or place this product in your hand with a little water for better, overall spreading. From here on out, I will be using it.

Bye blackheads!

I love cleansing oils, especially when the oil turns into a milky texture as soon as it’s rinsed off with water. This product removes waterproof makeup, including mascara and eyeliner, very effectively without the need for harsh rubbing. I also noticed blackheads around my nose area. After gently massaging the area with my fingers for about 15 seconds, the blackheads seemed to melt away and rinsed off easily. As a lavender scent lover, this product is especially enjoyable for me. The lavender fragrance is perfectly balanced — not overpowering — and makes every use feel calming and refreshing.

MANYO Pure Cleansing Oil Natural Face & Makeup Remover 200ml: frequently asked questions

What is the Manyo Pure Cleansing Oil?

The Ma:nyo Pure Cleansing Oil is a Korean first-cleanse oil designed to dissolve makeup, sunscreen, and excess sebum without stripping the skin. It emulsifies with water so it rinses cleanly, and its lightweight formula is intended to suit a range of skin types including oily and acne-prone. It comes in a 200ml bottle, which is a generous size for daily use.

Who is the Manyo Pure Cleansing Oil best suited for?

It works well for most skin types, but it's especially popular with oily and combination skin because it clears pore-clogging debris without leaving a greasy residue. People dealing with breakouts often use it as the first step in a double-cleanse routine. Those with very dry skin may want to follow with a nourishing moisturizer, since cleansing oils on their own don't add lasting hydration.

How do you use the Manyo Pure Cleansing Oil?

Apply 2–3 pumps to dry hands and massage onto a dry face for about 60 seconds to break down makeup and sunscreen. Add a small splash of water to emulsify—the oil will turn milky—then rinse thoroughly. Follow with a water-based cleanser for a proper double cleanse. Avoid getting the emulsified oil into your eyes, and pat skin dry before your next skincare step.

Is the Manyo Pure Cleansing Oil good?

It has a strong reputation among K-beauty fans for its clean rinse-off and non-comedogenic feel—qualities that are hard to find in a cleansing oil. The formula is generally well-tolerated, though results vary by skin type. It functions best as a first-cleanse step rather than a standalone cleanser, so pairing it with a separate water-based cleanser gets the most out of it.

Can you use the Manyo Pure Cleansing Oil every day?

Yes, it's formulated for daily use as part of an evening double-cleanse routine. Most users apply it once a day at night to remove the day's makeup and sunscreen. Using it twice daily is generally unnecessary and could potentially over-cleanse sensitive skin. A single nightly use is what most dermatologists recommend for any cleansing oil.

Is the Manyo Pure Cleansing Oil safe for acne-prone skin?

It's marketed as suitable for acne-prone skin, and many users with oily, breakout-prone skin report no issues. That said, individual reactions to any oil-based product are possible—if you're particularly reactive, patch-test on your jaw for a few days first. The key is to emulsify and rinse it off thoroughly; any residue left on skin can potentially clog pores regardless of formula.

What's the difference between the Manyo Pure Cleansing Oil and the Deep Clean version?

The Pure version uses a lighter, more natural oil base aimed at everyday gentle cleansing across most skin types. The Deep Clean version is formulated with a stronger focus on pore purification and tends to suit oilier skin that needs more thorough sebum removal. If you wear heavy or long-wear makeup regularly, Deep Clean may be more effective; for typical daily wear, Pure is usually sufficient.
